Something not working, or a question about your account? Start here — and if the answer is not below, write to us.
A bug, a question, a request, or anything to do with your account. We answer every message, usually within two working days. If something is broken, tell us your device and iOS version — it saves us both a round trip.
The ones people actually write in about.
Almost always the microphone permission. iOS only asks once, so if it was declined at the start there is no second prompt:
If the permission is already on, check that nothing else is holding the microphone — a call, a voice memo, or another app recording in the background.
Check the silent switch on the side of your iPhone, and turn the volume up while a note is playing, so you are moving media volume rather than ringer volume.
On Bluetooth headphones, try disconnecting them. Some headsets add enough delay that the note and your voice stop lining up.
The code is six digits and usually arrives within a minute. Check your spam folder first. If it is not there, wait a moment and use Resend the code — codes expire, and asking for several in quick succession can hold the next one up.
You do not need an account to use Lala. Every exercise, song and feature works without signing in; an account only carries your progress to a new phone.
Lala scores against your own measured range, so check the range test first — if it was taken while you were hoarse, or in a noisy room, every exercise after it is pitched wrong. You can take it again from the Profile tab.
It also helps to be about an arm's length from the phone in a quiet room. A fan, a television or a second voice will pull the reading around.
Lala has a diagnostics panel built in, and it ships in the released app precisely so this question can be answered. Open Settings, then Diagnostics, then Show audio numbers. Six readings appear while you sing. Healthy looks like this:
If yours are a long way off those, send us a photo of the panel with your device and iOS version. It tells us in one picture what a paragraph of description cannot.
Only you. Every take is recorded and kept on your phone, and never uploaded to us or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes them.
This is also why recordings do not follow you to a new phone the way your practice history does.
In the app: Profile, then Settings, then Delete account. It erases the account and everything synced with it immediately. If you would rather we did it, write to the address above and we will do it within 30 days.
Deleting your account does not touch the recordings on your phone — remove those by deleting the app.
Yes. The layouts are built for the larger screen, and the same microphone guidance applies.
Nothing. There is no subscription and nothing to buy — every exercise, song and feature is unlocked. Pricing sets out what we expect to change one day, and when we would say so.
What to include so we can find it.
Write to us with what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead, along with your device and iOS version.
If the app crashed, tell us roughly when. Lala records the last crash under Settings, then Diagnostics, and reading that back to us usually identifies it exactly.
The full detail, in two pages.
Our Privacy Policy lists everything the app stores, where it goes and how to remove it. The Terms of Use cover the rest.
